Dear Oshkosh Food Co-op Members,

This is the official notice of openings for the Oshkosh Food Co-op Board of Directors! Are you passionate about local foods, eager to open a thriving community-owned grocery store in the heart of Oshkosh, and excited to work with a creative, skilled, and dedicated team? If your answer is yes, yes, yes…WE NEED YOU!

Each year, three board positions are open for election. Board members hold positions for three-year terms, and elections are held in the first half of every year. Two additional board slots are open this year due to two board members leaving their terms early (one for a medical reason, another for a community endeavor).

All together we have five slots open for the Oshkosh Food Coop Board of Directors with three incumbents running again. Nomination statements are due Tuesday, February 27, 2018. You can find details about what being a board member entails as well as how to run for the Oshkosh Food Co-op Board of Directors by downloading the nomination packet here. 

We are here to help you consider running for the Oshkosh Food Co-op! Stop in and talk with current board members during any one (or all!) of the opportunities below.

Wednesday, February 7^th board members will be available for informal conversation and questions at Planet Perk (City Center) from 4:30 - 6PM; open house style.

Saturday, February 10^th we will be at the Oshkosh Farmers Market from 9:00AM-12:30PM. Stop by to talk and/or ask questions.

Wednesday, February 14^th we will hold an open house from 6:00-6:30PM prior to our board meeting; location 817 Waugoo Ave, Oshkosh. Stay for the board meeting if you'd like! Board meeting runs from 6:30-8:30PM.

Self-nomination for the Oshkosh Food Co-op Board of Directors

Note: Please review the Oshkosh Food Co-op by-laws, which are available here: http://www.oshkoshfoodcoop.com/bylaws

Eligibility:

• All nominees must be a member of the Oshkosh Food Co-op prior to their nomination submission
• You must be 18 years or older
• You must agree to the Co-operative values and principles: http://ica.coop/en/whats-co-op/co-operative-identity-values-principles
• You must agree to reasonably meet the expectations and responsibilities for board members

Nomination and Election Process:

1. Board nominations are open beginning Monday, January 30th
2. The nomination statement (see requirements below) must be emailed to [email protected] by the end of the day on February 14, 2017
3. Qualifying nominees will be placed on the ballot, which will be announced no less than 30 days prior to election
4. An election will take place by ballot at the Oshkosh Food Co-op annual meeting (date coming soon). Ballots will be counted and results announced at the end of the meeting

Board Member Expectations and Responsibilities:

• Commit to a three-year term
• Prepare for, attend, and participate in Board meetings (held every other week with the schedule to be determined by the Board members availability, and generally lasting 2 hours)
• Prepare for, attend, and participate in a Board annual retreat (usually scheduled in January on a weekend day)
• Respond promptly (within 48 hours ideally) to Oshkosh Food Co-op Board emails and/or voice mail messages
• Attend the Oshkosh Food Co-op annual meeting, the official meeting of the owner-members of the Oshkosh Food Co-op
• Serve on and/or lead Board committees

Your nomination statement must include:

1. First and Last Name
2. Address of residency
3. What would you bring/offer to the Oshkosh Food Co-op Board?
4. What is your dream for the Oshkosh Food Co-op for the coming years?
5. Why do you think the Oshkosh Food Co-op is important to the greater Oshkosh community?

7. Please offer any additional thoughts you would like Oshkosh Food Co-op member-owners to know about you
